Quickly turn Images into Dynamic Videos with Gemini & Veo 3

Following on from my last post, where we looked at how we can quickly create and edit videos using Gemini and Nano Banana, here we’ll look at how we can convert images into short videos using Gemini and Veo 3.

Let’s use one of the images I created in the last post, the one where we created a space for a gala event with all the tables and chairs and decoration.

Go to Gemini and click on “Tools” and “Create videos with Veo”.

Then upload the image you want to use by clicking on the plus (+) sign and choosing “Import files”.

Next, enter the description of what you want to happen in the video. Bearing in mind that it will only be about 8 seconds long. Be as descriptive as possible:

Some elegant guests are sitting at the tables on the chairs being served food and drinks by a smart waiter and waitress. In the background, there is light classical music playing.

Let’s see if that prompt is good enough. It takes a minute or two to create the video.

The video is ok but the music only starts halfway through. So let’s give some more information:

The video is great. Use the same image as a basis, but this time play the music throughout the video.

This time it’s added a voiceover, which I didn’t ask for. Let’s hone in what I want:

Almost there. The video is great. Use the same image as a basis, but this time with no voiceover or speaking in the video, only play the music.

I finally got to the type of video I wanted. And just managed to do it, as there’s a limit of making 3 videos per day with a standard Business account.

You do need to check what’s happening in your videos, as you may get some unexpected things going on. For example, in the last one, watch the waitress on the right. She’s sitting at the table with the guests, then gets up holding a wine glass, goes to put it down, then changes her mind, and wanders off with it! As if she’s been spotted by her boss or something! Comical but if you’re the catering company, it’s maybe not the best impression to give! 😊
